part 2 of our guide to curating your new season aesthetic: fashion and beauty xx

welcome angels to part 2 of our new series, curating your new season aesthetic!! Last week we talked all about setting the tone and creating your new vibe with playlists, watchlists and mood boards (click here to read part 1 xx)   and this week we're chatting all things fashion and beauty. Stay tuned for the final part next week, where we'll be getting into all the perfect autumn home decor, hobbies and pastimes for all those long, chilly nights and rainy, cosy days xx

1. Fashion

Finding your new style for autumn is honestly one of the most exciting parts of the season. With the drastic shift from summer's hot weather, it's the perfect time for a full wardrobe refresh, ready for flared jeans, chunky cable-knit jumpers and cardigans.

Start by going back to your moodboard from part 1, the one that captures your dream aesthetic for this season. Whether you made it with inspo from Pinterest, Instagram, or just from your fav tv shows and movie characters, this is your style blueprint. You can refer to it for full outfit inspo, or just for colour palettes and texture inspo. Having a clear and specific vision makes shopping sooo much easier and helps prevent impulse buys as you'll be more intentional with what you're buying. Instead of picking up random pieces you're not sure how to style, you'll be choosing items that work with your aesthetic, that you can build multiple outfits around and actually know how to style.

You don't need to buy a whole new wardrobe, your new season style can be both affordable and sustainable. Start with a wardrobe refresh, whether you rotate seasonal clothes or keep everything in one place, do a big clear out, pull out your autumn pieces and make a note of what you already have, half of the time we can forget what we actually already have! Once you've done that, write a little wishlist or you could even make another moodboard. What are you missing? Maybe it's a new scarf or the perfect pair of boots, whatever is it to re-create your inspo. Set yourself a budget, you could even sell any old clothes on Vinted for some extra money and you can totally set yourself a limit for how many new things you can buy. Visit your local charity shops, vintage shops and apps like eBay, Depop and Vinted to find great pieces and good prices! Why not make the most perfect autumn day out of it? Walk to the nearest thrift or charity shop near you, if you can. Buy some items of your wishlist and grab a lovely seasonal drink or sweet treat, or both for the way home! 🍂

2. Beauty

Next, is beauty! Finding your new season beauty routine is such a fun way to shift into your autumn aesthetic. It could be something big like switching up your hair colour to a richer tone like a deep brown, auburn, or a more neutral blonde, or even a completely bold colour like a deep red or purple! Your beauty routine also applies to your shower routine. Try incorporating autumn scents like apple, vanilla, coffee, or pumpkin spice for a cosy start to your day. Curating your new aesthetic is all about being intentional and investing in yourself.

For makeup, again refer to your moodboard if there are any specific characters you are trying to channel. Lean into those deeper, moodier tones like plum or a vampy red lip, a berry-toned blush, or a bit stronger on the eyeliner and eyeshadow colours like brown, burgundy, orange, gold, and green. Nail colour has also been such as a staple to autumn, opt for a dark red or burgundy, navy, orange, or brown and you could totally do a super cute design!

It's important to remember to focus on whatever you like, all this is supposed to be completely fun and unique to you. You don't have to change everything if you don't want to, swapping a few products will still bring you all the autumn vibes and cosiness, there's no pressure!xx
